Post updated 6/26/19 to reflect my current routine and products I use.
I recently switched up my skincare routine, and not only am I loving the results, but I’m getting tons of compliments — and that’s how you know it’s really working!
My nightly routine is multi-stepped but quick. After a long day, the last thing I want to do is spend forever preparing for bed. This routine takes me about 5 minutes.
All of these items are affordable, and most are available at Target, Walgreens, CVS, and on Amazon. I’ve included links for everything below.
First I remove any makeup I have on, and my eye makeup is the toughest to wash off. I wear waterproof mascara and an all-day wear liquid eyeliner that will not come off with face wash and water alone. I used to use Target Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, but InstaNatural, a company I already love for their natural and cruelty-free products and for their excellent price points, came out with their Rose Makeup Cleansing Balm. It’s a little more expensive than what I used to use, but it’s incredible, and I don’t mind paying a little extra for something that is better for my skin. Made with rose and manuka honey, this cleanser is gentle, nongreasy, and leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, and clean.
Other InstaNatural products are available on Amazon (listed below), but this one isn’t offered there yet. I will update with a link when they put the Cleanser on their Amazon shop!
STEP 2 (Optional): Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash ($7)
Even though the Rose Makeup Cleansing Balm removes my makeup and leaves my skin soft, I still like using Neutrogena facewash. You might remember that I wrote about my love for this facewash in my Shower Products for Sensitive Skin post, but in case you haven’t read it or don’t recall, I love this product because it has acne-fighting salicylic in it. It’s a gentle cleanser that doesn’t dry my skin out, and if I’m facing a breakout, I’ll add this to the mix. Other times, I’ll skip it altogether and head straight to Step 3 after using the Rose Makeup Cleansing Balm.
For a long time, I underestimated the power of toner, but now that I’ve seen the light, I love this stuff! This extra step to cleanse my skin removes every last trace of makeup and dirt that my washcloth and cleanser left behind. I go back and forth between Burt’s Bees Acne Solutions Toner and Thayer’s Rose Petal Facial Toner. I usually buy whichever is in stock and least expensive, but I love them both equally. Thayer’s also comes in other scents, such as Cucumber, Unscented, Lavender, and more.
I know serums and face oils have been big in the beauty scene recently, but every time I started shopping around for serums, I was shocked to see prices upwards of $45. I don’t really like to consider myself cheap, but I definitely consider myself frugal.
When I found InstaNatural, and I was skeptical because of its affordability, but it’s fantastic! I squeeze a few drops on my hand and pat it into my skin. It smells amazing and the retinol keeps my skin smooth and bright. I owe much of my new glow to this potion!
I have never used a night cream as moisturizing but greaseless as this Collagen Night Cream. I don’t wake up in the morning with a slick face like I have with other products. Instead, I have a healthy, dewy complexion in the morning. This cream tingles a little bit in a very refreshing way when first applied. It keeps my skin nourished and hydrated overnight, and when I wake up, I feel radiant.
Okay, I know this is starting to look like an InstaNatural ad, but it’s not. I’m not sponsored by them (although I would love to be and will update this post if that happens), but I truly love their products. I got this eye serum with my order of Rose Makeup Cleansing Balm, and I think it’s wonderful. I have always had undereye darkness, and in just a few days, this has helped lighten them. This bottle is huge given how little it takes to apply and massage into the skin, so $18 is a good deal for something that works and will last about two months (in my estimation).
The Insta Natural products are definitely splurges for me, but because of their effectiveness and price point compared to similar products, they feel like bargains, especially if you have a Prime membership and order through Amazon.
After swapping out makeup cleanser cloths for makeup remover and a gentle face wash, introducing an acne-fighting toner and retinol serum, and swapping out my old night cream for a hydrating one with collagen, and adding a product to diminish my dark circles, I’ve seen a massive difference in my skin. I’ve never had severely problematic skin before, but the combination of these products is making it clearer and brighter than ever!
If you end up using any of these products, let me know in the comments or tag me on Instagram. I would love to know what products are working for you!
